    It falls to me to inform our members of the passing of John Galloway this morning. John fought a long but brave battle with cancer. A dear friend who will be sorely missed. Sincere condolences to Nadine and Karl his grandson. RIP my friend.

  2. The funeral of Major General Mark Strudwick will take place at the Canongate Kirk, Edinburgh at 1200 on Friday 22 Oct, followed by a wake at the Archers’ Hall, Buccleuch Street. For those wishing to make donations the chosen charities are St john Scotland and ABF The Soldiers’ Charity.

    1. So sad to hear the news about General Mark Strudwick,I remember him very well as a young officer with a wide smile and easy to talk too.
      Even as a General he still had that nice smile and when we met on a few occasions he would
      always call me (young Moore) and as we both joined the Bn in 1966 it was a nice compliment.

  5. We are very sad to hear of the passing of General Mark. He was a great Royal and an inspiration to the thousands who served under him.

  6. It is with deep sadness that we report that this morning, 26 September 2021, Major General Mark Strudwick CBE died peacefully after a short illness, with his wife Sue at his side. He commanded the 1st Battalion 1984 – 1987 and was Colonel of the Regiment 1995 – 2005. Our thought are with his wife Sue, his son Piers, his daughter Sara and the whole family. Funeral details will be announced when known.

    2. Very sad news and I had a lot of time for General Mark Strudwick. He was adjutant when I was a young orderly room clerk and taught me a lot. He always had time for a quick chat when I met him at the Club or elsewhere.

      Very sad to hear the news, he will be missed.

Hi everyone, just in case you are unaware, Tony McKenna’s funeral will take place on Wednesday 29th September at St Andrews Catholic Church, Craigshill, Livingston at 12pm then onward to Adambrae Cemetery for 1.30 pm. When Tony was still with us he asked for people to wear either Celtic FC colours, bright colours or traditional funeral attire. RIP

  8. It is with great sadness that I inform all of the passing this morning Fri 24th September of Mags Allan. Mags took over the Editing and publishing of the newsletter back in 2012 (I think). She was a stalwart to the Association through Jimmy Laws and took great pride in joining in planned events. Mags was also heavily involved in the Ex Servicemen’s Club in Edinburgh until it closed. You will be sadly missed by all Mags. Jimmy and family, you are very much in our thoughts at this time. RIP
