  5. The funeral service for Jack Barnetson will be held at 1030 on Thursday 21st July 2022 at Colinton Parish Church Dell Rd, Edinburgh EH13 0JR, followed by a burial service at 1200 at the Grange Cemetery, 60A Grange Rd, Edinburgh EH9 1TT.

  6. It is with great sadness we report the death of Jack Barnetson, who passed away peacefully on Friday 8th of July.

    Jack was one of our four World War 2 veterans who featured in Team RS 373’s 2018 Film WW2 Veterans, Regimental Memories.

    Our Regimental Family’s condolences have been passed to Jack’s family.

    Funeral details will be posted when known. A notice will appear in the Edinburgh Evening News and Scotsman later this week.

      On behalf of the family, I would like express our gratitude to all the Royal Scots that attended Jack Barnetson’s funeral on Thurs 21st of July at Colinton Parish Church. Myself and the rest of the family were touched by this gesture of kindness. We feel ever so privileged and proud that Royal Scots of such great esteem were there to honour Jack, one of the last of the Greatest Generation.

    I will have to take a trip down to visit it and will call in to the pet shop.

      Pte Steven Potts place of rest is Wilton Cemetery near Burnfoot, Hawick where I use to live.
      I met his Mother & stepfather back in 2009, sadly I have discovered that he has since passed away, not sure if his mother stills own’s and works at Libby’s Pet Shop, 9 High St, Hawick, TD9 9BZ, Tel-01450 377400. To be honest she would probably like to talk to another ex-Royal about him, Hope this helps.
