  7. VJ 80TH MUSEUM REACH- OUT

To heighten awareness of The Royal Scots contribution to the Forgotten War in the Far East a very successful Family Research Event took place at Edinburgh’s Central Library 12-15 August. A short illustrated report is at Notices, where the link to the 12 minute film For Their Tomorrow, We Gave Our Today is also posted. Over half of the Royals who died in World War 2 did so in the Far East.

And a very big thank you to all who worked extremely hard to prepare for and deliver the initiative in the heart of Edinburgh.

  9. CALLING ALL MEMBERS OF THE REGIMENTAL BAND: LUNCH IN THE RS CLUB SATURDAY 13 SEPTEMBER 2025

First, a reminder of the RS VJ 80th Research Event event in the Edinburgh Central Library on George IV Bridge 12-15 August from 1000 – 1600. All Old Royals are welcome, so drop in if you can.

As you will know, this year’s Regimental Band Lunch in the RS Club has been in the Forecast of Events for some time. Saturday 13 September 2025. See Forecast of Events | The Royal Scots

The good news is that I have secured a grant from RS Trustees that will help subsidise the event. I will also ask the Club for a discounted rate on bedrooms for any wishing to book in, although I cannot guarantee success in this.

At present, we will be able to fill the Scott Room for a three course lunch with RS silver on the table. There is still time to book in so that we can take over the Dining Room for our exclusive use. But be quick and remember that our ladies are included. At your very earliest convenience, please let both David Nelson and me know whether or not you will be attending if you have not already done so. We are contactable at:

    wjblythe@hotmail.com
    davidnelsonscotland@gmail.com

Finally, please spread the word among former Band Members.

    Up The Royals!

    Jim
