RIP Davie. Davie was one of my training corporals at BOD, 1984 ( Tollerton Pl), incidentally my Pl Sgt was Alan Dunn (RIP). two men who I have great respect for. Davie was great for us young recruits, concerned about our well-being and development. He had a great sense of humour and a genuine interest in how we were progressing, both and soldiers and men. My thoughts are with his wife, family and friends.

Just received my British Legion 100th Passchendaele Poppy Pin, made from British brass artillery shell fuses found on the battlefields sites, each pin contains earth recovered from the fields and mixed with red and green enamel, something I will Treasure in its special laundered wooden box.

But more important is the card of the Loyal Young Soldier who sacrificed his life for Our Freedom Today, that I have been allotted, of Private Walter Brearey Service #41623, 13th Battalion Royal Scots, who sadly lost his life 22nd August 1917. and his Memorial Gravestone is in Tyne Cot Memorial Zonnebeke, West Flanders, Belgium

Sadly so far I have not been able to trace his birthdate, or place of his birth, but I am searching. I would like to know more about Walter and love to find a photo to put a face to his name, now he will always be special in my life. Rest in Peace Walter.

Please see below from Brig Charles Ritchie.
Those who knew him, will be as sad as I was, to read in today’s Daily Telegraph Obituaries that COLONEL STEPHEN NATHAN died at home after a long illness on the 15th of October, aged 73. There is to be a private funeral with a celebration of his life at a later date, to be announced. He was Commissioned into The Royal Scots in July 1964 and later transferredto the AAC.
