    The next Stewart Snedden Memorial Golf will be held at Liberton Golf Club on Friday 29 May 2026 starting at 0800Hrs.

    It is with great sadness that I report the passing of my brother John Busby ( Buzz) following a short illness on 30th November 2025.
    John served with the Royal Scots for nine years, from about 1962 to 1970/71. His army number was 23930320, he reached the rank corporal. He served in Aden, was posted to Osnabruk and Tidworth. He leaves behind his widow Brenda.
    John’s funeral is on 19th December 2025, at 14.00, main chapel, Mortonhall Crematorium.

    New article for The Thistle. – “Royal Scots, Then and Now”

    We have started a new article in The Thistle to ensure that we who served in The Royal Scots are remembered in perpetuity.

    So come and join us. All you need to do is send a hi-res photo of yourself when you were in training and a most recent one of yourself, if possible, as smart as the day you Passed Out.

    Articles for the Thistle

    Hi all, I hope you are well? Just a wee reminder for the next edition of The Thistle, we would appreciate if you would share any photos you have from Remembrance Day from around the country and if you did any stints collecting for the RBL Poppy Appeal. It would be great if you could mention who was in the photos and where it was please. Kindly send them in the highest resolution possible to photos1633@gmail.com

    Following the success of the A Company Smoker in October, similar events for B Company and C Company have been scheduled for Fri 20 Mar 2026 and Fri 25 Sep 2026 respectively.

    Mr Eric Wilson

    Mr Eric Wilson died suddenly at home on 2nd November 2025. Late of Cook Court, Newtownards and formerly of Scotland. Beloved partner of Jackie and much loved brother, uncle and friend.

    Service in S. Clarke and Son’s Funeral Church, Newtownards, on Monday 10th November 2025 at 3.00 pm. Committal afterwards to Roselawn Crematorium.

    Family flowers only please. Donations may be sent, if desired, to Macmillan Unit, Ulster Hospital c/o S. Clarke and Son Funeral Directors, 12 Court Square, Newtownards, BT23 7NY.

    Lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his partner Jackie and the family circle.

    Mr Kenneth MacLeod

    It is with great sadness that we report the death on Thu 23 Oct 2025 of Mr Kenneth MacLeod, 1RS National Service 1952-1954. Our thoughts are with his family and friends. The funeral will be held at 1300 on Thu 6 Nov 2025 at Warriston Crematorium, 36 Warriston Road, Edinburgh, EH7 4HW.
