REGIMENTAL BAND LUNCH 2025
Fifteen members, including some of our ladies, sat down to lunch in The Royal Scots Club on Saturday 13th September.
The table in the Scott Room was set in elegant fashion with Royal Cypher crockery and Club silver, the centrepiece being the flute that had been presented to the 1st Battalion by the Regimental Band as it was subsumed into the Lowland Brigade Band. Returned from Palace Barracks, it is now on permanent display in one of the silver cases in the Douglas Room.
The fare was excellent and the service most attentive. We are very appreciative of the efforts of Club General Manager Adrian and his staff, especially Katherine the Events Manager and the Duty Manager of the day Georgia and her team.
Lunch was followed immediately by a musical interlude of Dumbarton’s Drums, Garb Of Old Gaul and Daughter Of The Regiment played by an ensemble who had clearly not lost their touch. Hopefully, this will be a feature of future gatherings.
We were rather thinner on the ground than in 2023, due to a number of members having other commitments including holidays and family events. Next year’s lunch is set for Saturday 12 September 2026, in the Douglas Room. We had experimented with holding a formal lunch every two years and an informal one in between but discussion around the table favoured a formal one annually, so that anyone missing out one year would be able to attend the next. 12 September 2026 should help maximum attendance after the summer holiday season and before we plunge into winter.
So, until we meet again, don’t forget to use our very own War Memorial Club and to visit our Museum in the Castle. For the Club, simply turn up although, but if for lunch or dinner in the Dining Room, book in beforehand at info@royalscotsclub.com. For Museum visits, contact
museum@theroyalscots.co.uk giving as much notice as you can. Free access into the Castle for the purpose of visiting our Museum will be arranged for all Old Royals and their families. Finally, keep checking the Guestbook, the Forecast of Events and the Events pages at http://www.theroyalscots.co.uk
