Everyone needs a little help now and then, to get them through a difficult patch.

Royal Scots Benevolence provides financial help to Royal Scots and their dependents, when they need it most.

Examples include help for those who:

– have health-related needs
– would benefit from respite
– are at risk of homelessness
– need training or retraining to get work.

In 2013/14, Royal Scots Benevolence gave a total of £22,195 in varying amounts to 63 people, from £53 for an emergency phone to £1,800 in short-term support for an older couple after one of them had a major stroke.

Help is often supplied by more than one military organisation. Of the 63 Royal Scots and their families helped last year, 35 received additional funding from ABF The Soldier’s Charity and 29 from Poppy Scotland.

Application is made through SSAFA – see How to apply.

The Royal Scots helped me

“When I moved into my house all I had was a kettle and microwave oven, now my carpets are down and my white goods are in place. My house now feels like a home. I will never be able to thank you enough. From a very, very grateful ex Cpl 1 RS.”
