Crieff Remembers Military Parade and Drumhead Service

Legion Scotland are proud to support The Crieff Remembers Military Parade and Drumhead Service that will take place in Crieff on 30th July 2017.

The Parade will form up at 1000 am at the Leadenflower car park, Crieff.

Standard Bearers and Tri-Service / Regimental Associations are requested to contact the planning team to advise on numbers. The parade will step off at 1030am and march to Market Park where the Drumhead Service will take place. The Parade will be supported my Marching Contingents from 3 SCOTS, 7 SCOTS and local Pipe Bands. The salute will be taken by Maj Gen Mike Riddell-Webster CBE DSO, Governor of Edinburgh Castle.

Limited free on street parking for those persons taking part or attending is available in the areas around the schools at Broich Road, Crieff. Parking cannot be reserved.

The Drumhead Service will be conducted by the National Padre of Legion Scotland who will be supported by the National President Lt Gen Sir Alistair Irwin KCB CBE and others.

At the conclusion of the service, entertainment will be provided by military / pipe bands and the Legion Scotland Sweetheart Miss Amy Hawthorn.

Edinburgh Festival Fringe Events

We are delighted to be involved in two of the events taking place during this year’s Edinburgh Festival, both of which are open to all our members. A maximum of two tickets per member and all those expressing an interest will go in a draw and be notified if they are successful after the deadline date.

1st Event

1. Event: A Comradeship night at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo
2. Date: Thursday 3rd Aug 2017
3. Location: Esplanade of Edinburgh Castle, Castlehill, Edinburgh, EH1 2NG
4. Timings: 21:00 – 22:40

2nd Event

1. Event: A Comradeship night at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe to see the act ‘There Was A Soldier’
2. Date: Tuesday 15th Aug 2017
3. Location: Stockbridge Church, 7b Saxe Coburg Street, Edinburgh EH3 5BN
4. Timings: 19:00 – 21:15

Area Dance 2017

This will be held at Dunbar Legion Scotland Club on Friday 1st September 2017. 7pm prompt for meal on arrival, to Midnight and tickets will be £10 per person for 3 course meal (including a Band for entertainment). Area as in the past will subsidise the meal by £5. The total price of £15 will include a pint or small bottle of wine with the meal.

The Area Secretary Freddie Wood will send out a menu in due course for members to choose their meal before the night. This will help the caterer, and keep their costs down as well.

BRANCHES can book tickets now if they wish and they will be issued early August with payment expected prior to the event

Last point – Area has agreed to pay HALF (1/2) the cost of a Mini Bus that night, and will monitor total expenditure, as it is a first for this larger geographical spread of Branches. Branches will be paid the transport costs after the dance night, on production of an invoice.
