Guestbook

The Guestbook has recently been well populated with glowing reports about the various Burns suppers - and before then Christmas events. Well done all the organisers and their supporters. Sterling effort and evidently appreciated by those who attended. Well done the entertainers also. We have a full year of other events that are set to be equally successful and these are listed in the Forecast of Events on the back page of the Winter Edition of The Thistle which is about to be printed and also viewable on the Regimental Journal page of the Website. Many thanks to all who turned out for the Highland Branch Burns Night on Saturday. By all accounts a great time was has by all and i have heard nothing but praise for the event and our guests hope it will be a regular occurrence. Being small in membership the Branch depends on our members inviting family and friends along to such occasions to bump up the numbers and add to the evening. It was our first major function and i could not have asked for a better way to mark it. Thanks to those who travelled from outwith the Inverness area it is much appreciated by the local members and great to catch up with "Old Royals" who are unable to make it to our meetings. Already looking forward to doing it all again in about a years time. It is especially nice that we did have an ex officer at our function and Henry Angus has assured me he thouroughly enjoyed it and has already volunteered his services for next years celebration - thanks Henry, apologies for the late night/early morning back at my humble abode where copious amounts of the amber nectar were further consumed ;-) Again many thanks to all. ref membership there is ex Royals out there who are proud of it thay served there time and dont need to be in the Association some look on this site and see it as not all ex Royals but as a cpl sgt mess. FROM HHQ RS. Roy, We're a broad kirk and all are welcome. When I left the Army, I stayed away for a while, but when I eventually joined the Association and attended events, I wished I had done it long before. To those who are staying away, I say, come and join in - you won't regret it. Anyone who wants to talk to me about it, phone 0131 310 5016. Lt Col (Retd) W J Blythe, Regtl Sec RS.
