SAVE THE DATE, COME AND HAVE A BIT OF FUN AND MEET SOME OLD FACES!
The Late Colonel SFM (Steve) Telfer MBE
We have been advised and requested to notify the Regimental Family that as well as the Memorial service being held in Colchester on Friday 13th of July there will be a funeral in Lanark once Steve’s body has been repatriated from Nigeria.
The date of this cannot yet be confirmed, however the service is likely to take place in St Nicholas Parish Church and the burial in St Catherine’s cemetery both of which are in Lanark. The arrangements when known will be published here.
At Colchester on Friday 13 July Colonel Steve Telfer’s family, led by his daughter Natasha McClay, organised a very special and moving Memorial Service for Steve. There were eulogies from his daughters, Natasha and Sophia, and Wanda – all full of loving memories and their deep love for Steve.
There was a tremendous turnout by old Royals, many travelling great distances, which was hugely appreciated by the family.
Natasha has also organised a collection in Memory of Steve to go to The Royal Scots Benevolent Fund. Do please visit the Just Giving website and search for Natasza-Telfer-2.
I echo Robbie Scott-Bowden’s comments about the memorial Service held last Friday for Lt Col Steve Telfer MBE. It was a very special and moving event, in honour of a much respected and loved man. Do please support the collection in memory of Steve. It is being raised for the RS Benevolant Fund and it can be found on the Just Giving website, Natasza-Telfer-2.
Like to congratulate them too Franny, let’s hope no-one sets asunder eh!Always the bride never the bridesmaid.l.O. l.U.T.R.
Rest In Peace
Colonel Telfer MBE
PLEASE HELP PASS ON URGENTLY !
Re Colonel Stephen ‘Tom’ Telfer MBE
In place of a funeral, we are now going ahead and having a memorial service and wake. Both will be held at the Officers Club in Colchester at 12:00hrs on Friday the 13th of July. There is parking at the venue. Please note, this is the main event.
I need to get numbers together urgently, so please can people either msg me on here or RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org
We would like to have as many people present as possible, although we know there will be a lot of travel involved for many. Whether you met him once, knew him for years, whether you were friends or served with him, we would absolutely love you to be there. He was a well respected man who stood by and supported so many around the world. We will be finally, 7 weeks after his death, be able to give him the dignity and respect that he deserved and should have had by now.
We don’t have contact details for the vast network of military and civilian colleagues and friends that stretched worldwide, so it would mean so much if as many people as possible could share and pass this on.
Thank you so so much
I would like to say congratulations to Tam Logan who at last is recognised for his dedicated contribution as association secretary, he goes way above and beyond his call of duty and is a great ambassador for the Royal Scots association. He deserves fully all the praise he gets.
Haig Housing Trust is the largest charity provider of housing for the ex-Service community throughout the UK.
In Scotland properties administered by Haig Housing Trust consist of 92 dwelling houses across the Central Belt, the majority in Edinburgh. All are at present fully let to tenants with an ex-Service connection.
Implementation of the Housing (Scotland) Act 2014 by the Scottish Administration in September of this year requires the reorganisation of Housing Management Services for the Trust in Scotland and we seek to engage an individual as an employee of Haig Housing Trust to fulfil the services required.
The key services are:
• Record keeping and basic accounting through remote IT Systems including the use of MS Office products
• Tenant Management including rent arrears monitoring, applicant interviews, tenant liaison and re-letting of properties
• Property management through authorising repairs and maintenance by instructing tradesmen and suppliers, and maintaining statutory inspection programmes
• Project Control in managing refurbishment works (eg kitchen, bathroom replacements) with professional firms and contractors
• Liaison with Service charities, local authorities and other voluntary organisations
• Advice and guidance to vulnerable tenants on services available for support and assistance beyond their housing needs
• Provision of financial and performance reports to Management and Trustees
• Committee secretarial functions
• Awareness of Scottish legislation relating to Housing, Landlords, Tenants and Charities to be able to advise Management and Trustees
The service provider will attend as required to deal with repair and maintenance or tenant liaison matters and will visit and inspect all properties at least once per year. Hours of work will be dictated by the needs of the job and availability of tenants and contractors.
Rental, maintenance and general accounting records are maintained centrally by Haig Homes and are accessed by a computer link. Reliable broadband links are a prerequisite of a home office environment.
The service provider will be expected to work from home, receiving communications by telephone and email from tenants, HHT Head Office, and suppliers, and work in close association with other ex-Service charities at Veterans Scotland, New Haig House, Logie Green Road, Edinburgh.
Experience or knowledge of the Her Majesty’s Armed Forces would be an advantage. Current driving licence and own transport are essential.
All work will be carried out to the standards, policies and procedures as directed by Haig Housing Trust.
Employment would be for a 28 hour week at a salary of £26,000 plus car allowance.
Haig Housing Trust would wish to fill the vacancy by September 2018 with an earlier start possible.
Please submit expressions of interest by 20 July 2018 to:
